Cool Beans... Come by and see the new “Cool Beans” coffee house. The hours of operation will be Wednesdays from 4:00 - 6:00 pm and after Collide, and Sundays from 8:00 - 9:30 am serving all of Cypress Baptist Church. It is located in the old racquetball room in the FLC.
Security Team... As mentioned in the Worship Service this last Sunday, we have in place a Security Team of active law enforcement officers. These men are all post certified and well trained and equipped to handle emergencies that may arise. This team is under the direction of Lieutenant Richard Childers who is in charge of the Shreveport Police SWAT Team as his real job. The team is well represented on campus each Sunday and all have radios and cell phones and are in contact with each other. In addition we have a uniformed officer on campus on Sunday mornings to provide an obvious presence and to assist with traffic at the close of the service. The Concealed Carry Law will be administered by Pastor John as required by the law. In his words, “We will be continually working to improve the safety of our campus. In the event of a situation it is best to keep low and follow the directions of our team. Remember our real protection is God.” If any of you are post certified and would like to be a member of the team, contact Cecil. Also if you are a trained medical person—doctor, nurse, EMT,etc. and would like to be a responder call Cecil to be included.
Oil Spill Victim Assistance … One of our Cypress members has been in touch with the Director of Missions for the Bayou Baptist Association where there are many churches, their staffs and people that have been affected by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. If you would like to make a monetary contribution to help these folks you may do so by writing a check to Cypress and designating it for Oil Victims. These funds will be sent to the Bayou Baptist Association and they will make sure the funds are distributed appropriately.
