Tommy Patton serves as Minister to Senior Adults/Pastoral Care. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. He attended the Pelican Methodist Church as a child where he made his profession of faith. He later joined Emmanuel Baptist Church in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Tommy has been on staff at First Baptist Church in Lafayette where he served in the deaf ministry program. He was later on staff at First Baptist Church in Shreveport, again leading the deaf ministry. He was very active at Broadmoor Baptist Church working with Senior Adults. His wife, Sharon Patton, serves with Tommy in every phase of his ministry. They married on November 18,1972.
Tommy attended Northwestern State College and later transferred to the University of Southwestern Louisiana where he completed his degree in Elementary Education/Special Education. After teaching for three years, he completed his Masters Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling and began working for the State as a Rehabilitation Counselor. He became a supervisor and later manager of the Shreveport Rehabilitation office. He retired in 2001 with 36 years of service.
After retirement, Tommy moved to Benton and joined the staff at Cypress Baptist Church. Tommy and Sharon have two sons, Wayne and Scott. They are the proud grandparents of two grandsons, Luke and Will and twin granddaughters, Maggie and Olivia.
Tommy says the best thing about what he does at Cypress Baptist Church is: "I have the privilege of knowing and loving our Senior Adults. I am grateful, deeply grateful, for the privilege of serving as Minister to Senior Adults." If he weren't on staff at Cypress Baptist Church he would be: "Retired again and enjoying each day with Sharon---and our family."
