Philip Wade serves as the Minister of Music at Cypress Baptist Church. He was born in Farmerville Louisiana, and attended First Baptist Church, where at age 12 he made a profession of faith. His wife, Carol, is also from Farmerville. They were married on July 30, 1983. They have 3 children, Meredith, Mark, and John Philip.
His degrees include a MA in History from Louisiana Tech, a Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a BS in Music, from Louisiana State University. He was on staff from 1985 - 1990 at Temple Baptist Church in Ruston, before moving to Cypress Baptist in 1990. Carol graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a degree in Science education. She later entered Louisiana Tech, receiving a degree in Medical Technology. She currently teaches science at Benton High School.
Philip has been a professional, free-lance composer/arranger for over 25 years. He has been published with Word Music, as well as Lifeway Music. His compositions span the musical spectrum, from the classical guitar to large scale musical productions, from pop to country, as well as symphonic works. He is an accomplished guitarist and percussionist. His most recent project is The M. G. Rhyming Revue, a unique collection of songs based on the most beloved Nursery Rhymes.
